The Building Commission recently released Industry Bulletin 104/2018 which provides clarity on required bushfire construction details for housing.
Previously standard notes and generic specifications relating to AS3959 and building in bushfire prone areas were considered acceptable, however, these will no longer be sufficient to meet the deemed-to-satisfy provisions of BCA. As such, a site specific BAL Construction Plan and associated specification or addenda to a standard specification should be provided with each building requiring to meet AS3959 or NASH.
This latest advice will affect all relevant buildings located within a bushfire prone area. If you would like advice on what will be required on a BAL Construction Plan & Specification or how this may affect your next project, please contact one of our Building Surveyors to discuss further on 6114 9356.
